Book Troops
Every good society is based on wisdom, wisdom comes from knowledge and knowledge comes from books. So, books are the fundamental resource for a good society. Technology reforms create a huge gap between a reader and a book. Pakistan faces a huge problem about reading culture. There was a time when reading was the common habit of most people and there were a lot of resource centres available for learning and reading e.g. libraries, community centres, bookshops, teachers and mentors who used to facilitate people by providing them books and resource material. Presently it is very difficult to find a place or point where a reader can have access on latest books and resource material to engage himself. We are here with an aim to revive that culture of book reading for the betterment of society and transform our libraries into resource centres.
Book Troops is a team of dedicated people who are determined to establish a book reading culture in Pakistan through every platform and organization. We are already doing a project of "Shared Mobile Library" with collaboration of Comsats and HEC to establish a library in middle and lower class schools by providing them a library for short time. During this short span of time, we ensure from school administration to make it's own library by saving some money on monthly basis. After this successful going on project, we want to excel in other social sectors also likely community centres, Masjids, waiting areas/lounge at travelling stations etc. Also launching book clubs for children, adolescents and youth.
Collaborating with book publishers nationally and internationally. Seeking support from National book foundation, National Library of Pakistan and local government for their community centres.
We aim to establish a library and book club in every city of Pakistan.
Way forward: switch to e-libraries & convert libraries to resource centres and community engagement points.
